ferries and sailors from three countries cross the lake: Germany, Austria and Switzerland border the shore. Nowhere in Germany is the network of nature reserves as dense as in this region. Sustainability is writ large here in fruit and wine growing, fishing, agriculture, culture and tourism. ESD plus lago feeling – more is not possible.

Mainau Island – Green School

The Green School Mainau is an extracurricular educational venue where school classes and other inquisitive groups learn in the spirit of ESD in the green. As part of the non-profit organization Gardening for All, our goal is to make nature accessible and understandable in a sustainable way.
What actually are butterflies, why are they a miracle of evolution and what do they have to do with the climate? We’ll get to the bottom of these and many other questions as we explore the wonderful but threatened world of butterflies together. More than 600 species of butterflies are newly discovered every year! The largest so far has about 30 cm wingspan! And like migratory birds, butterflies fly from Africa to southern Europe to northern Europe. But intergenerational is flown – exciting!

Group size: In case of larger groups, the group will be divided (20-30 participants per group).
